Next Meeting of the Armidale Mens Group - 24 November 2009
Normally our next meeting, the 2nd Tuesday of the month would be 10 Nov. BUT BUT HORSES!

The competitive racing of horses is one of humankind's most ancient sports, having its origins among the prehistoric nomadic tribesmen of Central Asia who first domesticated the horse about 4500 BC. For thousands of years, horse racing flourished as the sport of kings and the nobility. That is - MEN.

And as a result of that, horse racing in Australia was founded during the early years of settlement and the industry has grown to be among the top three leading Thoroughbred racing nations of the world. The Melbourne cup has been run in the first week of November each year, generally on a Tuesday. Although the race itself is during the afternoon, celebrations go wildly on into the evening. And as a result of that, Poetzinc have their November get-together on the second Tue instead of the first. And as a result of that, it clashes with the next Men's Group meeting. And as a result of that, we'll skip one meeting such that our next Mens Group meeting will be Tue 24 Nov. Everything is connected and if those prehistoric nomadic tribesmen of Central Asia in 4500 BC had realised the consequences down the (race) track, I'm sure they would have taken a different course - and thus we could meet but now it is 24/11 - the 4th Tuesday evening of the month at 7pm. (apologies to Ron)
